SpaEvidence.com
CNN reports a new website SpaEvidence.com which is devoted to "Evidenced-Based Medicine Portal for Spa & Wellness Therapies". I checked out the section on sauna. I'm not impressed.
- Their definition of sauna mentions "temperatures typically ranging from 70°C (158 °F) and 100°C (212 °F)". This is not unheard of for a Finnish hot air sauna, although the maximum allowable sauna temperature in Canada and the United States is 194°F (90°C). For an infrared sauna I'm pretty sure 100°C would be fatal.
- Their "Access PubMed's research on Sauna" link takes you to PubMed's research on Relaxation Therapy instead.
- The research papers they link to are not understandable by anyone without a significant medical background.
