Sauna Championships Banned After Tragedy

There has been a 'Sauna World Championship' in Finland since 1999. The object of the contest is 'to be the last man sweating'. You should not be surprised to hear that this did not end well, as the final two contestants passed out out and one died. Here's a newspaper report.

The championships will not be held again.

I don't think this is a reflection on home infrared sauna safety. Here's my analogy: Home infrared sauna is like doing jumping jacks, while the World Sauna Championship is like seeing who can jump off the highest building.
